Every product starts with an idea. But the path that idea has to travel to become a production-ready product is a specialism. Our specialism. At Pentas Moulding, we have a lot of knowledge and experience in this area. Once the product is ready for mass production, we can produce and deliver it to order. We have explained how this all works exactly in several steps below.
From design to finish
Whether it concerns fuel tanks, planters, mudguards or toys: all the plastic products that we make at Pentas, are made in a similar way. The shape, size and colour may differ, but the steps we take are always the same. From designing to rotational moulding and from assembling/finishing to transport.
The design forms the basis for every product. We create the optimal design in consultation with you as a customer. We listen to your wishes and requirements and also analyse the complete installation environment of the product. This is contrasted with the possibilities and limitations of the rotational moulding process. We are happy to share our many years of experience with you to avoid pitfalls.
Our constructors optimise the design for the rotational moulding process within the given frameworks. When designing the product, it is not only about the shape of the plastic product but also about the application. We regularly assemble parts to the product, such as level gauges, caps, hoses, etc. Due to our large supplier base, we draw from an extensive range of these types of assembly parts. However, it does not stop there. Our constructors are also responsible for designing the production mould, which we make in-house in our mould building department.
Once we know what dimensions and shape the product should have, we make a production mould for it. This mould is used to make numerous exact copies of your product. We store the mould in our warehouse after use so that we can use it again if you place a follow-up order. At Pentas, we only use CNC milled moulds to guarantee products of the highest possible quality. This is reflected in, for instance, close tolerances, good wall thickness distribution and tight dividing seams. In addition, CNC moulds are relatively easy to adapt if changes to the design are necessary.
We fill the mould with plastic powder and heat it until the powder, which is now a liquid mass, sticks to the hot mould wall. The product is then cooled on the cooling station. To ensure that there is a good wall thickness distribution, the mould rotates over two arms during the entire process. In the last step, the solidified product is released from the mould. During unloading, the mould is refilled for the next cycle.
Our skilled technical employees finish the product. The product’s finish is based on the specific finishing instruction, which is digitally available on the production lines. In the design phase, it is already critically assessed what this entire process should look like. For critical sizes or important shapes, support templates, gauges and measuring tools are designed in advance. Beforehand, we also anticipate what could go wrong in our production/post-processing process. We respond to this by developing “Poka-Yoke” solutions. As a system supplier, we thus supply more than just the plastic product. By mounting assembly parts we also deliver intermediate products. This means that your product is delivered completely assembled and ready-to-use. To make this possible, we manage the stock of parts and maintain relationships with the sub-suppliers ourselves.
The quality control
Quality is of paramount importance at Pentas. We do not skimp on either costs or effort to fulfil the expected quality and agreements made with you. This is evident by our intensive quality controls, for instance. Quality control staff walk around in our factory with tablets and perform random checks on our production series. Drawings with tolerances are compared with reality. If anything is deviating, we will investigate how this is possible and solve the problem at the source. Each product must meet all the requirements that you have set beforehand, and we check this extensively.
Do you not have your own transport department? Then we can arrange that your product will be delivered to the desired location. We do this together with professional carriers from the region. We are familiar with logistics techniques such as Just-In-Time and Just-In-Sequence. We work with these on a daily basis.
